This article describes how to install and configure Kivati Studio on Windows XP, Windows Vista, or on a server that isn't running SharePoint.
Kivati Studio can be used across a wide variety of operating systems, including:
- Windows XP
- Windows Vista
- Windows Server 2003
- Windows Server 2008
On operating systems such as Windows XP or Windows Vista (which cannot run SharePoint), or on a Windows Server machine not running SharePoint, you must take additional steps during setup to use Kivati Studio's SharePoint tasks on these operating systems. These steps are required because you must provide Kivati Studio with some required SharePoint .dll files necessary to use Kivati Studio's SharePoint tasks.
To perform these steps:
- Install Kivati Studio from the installation media that came with your product.
- At the end of the installation wizard, click the Finish button. The Additional Dependencies Wizard will appear. If the wizard does not appear, you can launch it by clicking Start, Programs, Kivati, Additional Dependencies Wizard.
- Note: On Windows Vista, the Additional Dependencies Wizard may appear appear behind other windows. You may need to minimize other windows or Alt+Tab to see the wizard.
- The Additional Dependencies Wizard will prompt you for your SharePoint installation media.
- If you have SharePoint CD or DVD media, insert this media into your optical drive and provide the wizard with the drive letter that contains the media.
- If you have SharePoint installation media on a network share or disk location, provide the wizard with the path to the root of this media. See below for examples.
- After you provide the wizard with the location of your SharePoint media, it will install the files needed by Kivati Studio.
- If additional media is required, the wizard will prompt you again. If no additional media is required, the wizard will exit.
Tips for specifying media:
- If your installation media is located on a disk or network share, you should provide a path that contains a "setup.exe" file. Do not provide a subdirectory of this path or the wizard may not be able to find the required .dll files.
- Be sure to provide installation media for the correct platform. If you are installing on a 32-bit machine, you must provide 32-bit SharePoint installation media. Similarly, 64-bit machines require 64-bit installation media.
- If you only have a license to Windows SharePoint Services (not Microsoft Office SharePoint Server) you can provide this installation media instead of media for MOSS. However, you will not be able to use some tasks.
If you are deploying Kivati Studio to a large number of computers, you may wish to use a Windows Installer transform to provide the necessary installation media automatically as part of the setup package you distribute to your users.
