Delay required to restart Kivati Server
Category: Problem
Applies to: Kivati Server

In the current version of Kivati Server, you cannot start or restart the Kivati Server service immediately after stopping the service.

Details

Kivati Server runs as a Windows service process.  When you stop the process (using either the service control manager or the Kivati Server configuration tool), there can be some delay between the time you stop the process and the time the process actually stops.  While the process is being stopped, you cannot start another instance of Kivati Server.  After the process has stopped, a new instance of Kivati Server can be started again.

You may encounter this issue in the following situations:

  • You rapidly stop and start the Kivati Server service using either service control manager or the configuration tool
  • You restart the Kivati Server service using service control manager
  • You forcibly end the Kivati Server service using task manager
  • The Kivati Server service crashes unexpectedly

To remedy this problem:

  • Wait until the "kivatiserver.exe" application has shut down in task manager before trying to start another copy of the server
  • If you still cannot restart the server, reboot the computer

More Information

This problem is caused by a known bug in Kivati Server that will be addressed in a future release.
